Getting to Dangar Island is easy. It is less than one hour from Sydney by car or train. View Larger Map By road from the south:Take the F3 expressway at Wahroonga, drive 20 minutes to the Hawkesbury River Bridge and follow the Brooklyn-Mooney Mooney turn off just after you cross the River. Follow the signs to Brooklyn and park at or near the Hawkesbury River Marina. The Dangar Island Ferry Wharf is on the left hand side of the marina as you face it, down a dirt track next to the railway line. Look for the sign posts. By road from the north:Follow the signs to Brooklyn and park at or near the Hawkesbury River Marina. By rail:CityRail Trip PlannerCatch the train from Central Station in the Country section or Strathfield. The trip takes 55 minutes. Alight at Hawkesbury River Station, which is the railway station after Cowan. The Dangar Island Ferry Wharf can be seen on your left as you leave the railway station. The ferry tripFerry TimetableThe Dangar Island Ferry Service operates seven days a week and leaves hourly. The trip to the Island is 10 minutes on the “Sun”, a ferry that has all the charm of wooden boats and another era.
